This plugin does NOT guarantee full compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA or Israeli Amendment 13.

A truly accessible website requires far more than a widget. Full WCAG AA compliance involves:

Proper semantic HTML structure (headings, landmarks, lists)
Accessible forms (labels, error messages, ARIA attributes)
Keyboard navigation throughout all interactive elements
Sufficient color contrast built into the site’s design
Alt text on all meaningful images
Captions and transcripts for video/audio content
Accessible PDFs and downloadable documents
Correct use of ARIA roles and attributes throughout the codebase
Testing with actual screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
Testing with keyboard-only navigation
Testing with real users with disabilities

Installation

Upload the plugin to /wp-content/plugins/edigital-accessibility-tools-statement, or install directly from the WordPress plugin directory.
Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen.
Go to Accessibility & Statement in the wp-admin main menu.
Enter your organization details and click Save Settings.
Click Create Accessibility Statement Page to generate the statement automatically.

FAQ

Does this plugin guarantee full legal compliance with Amendment 13?: No. This plugin provides important tools that assist with accessibility, but full compliance requires a professional audit and development work across the entire website. See the Disclaimer section above.
Who is responsible if my site is found non-compliant?: The website owner is solely responsible for ensuring their site meets applicable accessibility regulations. Elimelech Digital and this plugin’s contributors bear no legal responsibility for compliance outcomes.
Can I change the widget color and position?: Yes — from the admin settings panel you can choose from 6 positions and pick any custom color.
Does the plugin collect visitor data?: No. All preferences are stored locally in the visitor’s browser. No data is sent to any server.
What is the minimum PHP version?: PHP 7.4 or higher.
Can I remove the “edigital” credit?: The credit inside the widget is always shown and helps support free development. The credit on the accessibility statement page can be toggled off from the Branding tab in settings.

1.4.4

The 1.4.3 fix (isolating the color-mix() gradient + inline-style position offset) turned out
to be insufficient on at least one real site – the panel could still appear stuck open by
default on desktop specifically, even with 1.4.3 confirmed installed, while mobile was fine on
the same site. Replaced the hiding mechanism entirely: instead of moving the panel off-screen
with a position offset (bottom: -600px), which in principle can still be fought or overridden
by something else in a specific site’s own CSS, the panel now defaults to display: none –
completely removed from rendering and layout, which cannot be “partially defeated” the way a
position trick can. The open/close animation still plays via the position offset while the
panel is briefly set to display: flex during the transition, then set back to display: none
once the closing animation finishes. Verified the full open close reopen cycle end-to-end.

1.4.3

Fixed a real recurring bug: the accessibility panel appeared open by default at the bottom of
the page on some sites (not all), instead of staying hidden until clicked. Root cause: the
hiding mechanism (bottom: -600px) was combined in the same CSS rule as a gradient background
using color-mix() – a newer CSS function that some sites’ CSS minifier/optimizer plugins don’t
handle correctly. If the whole rule failed to parse/apply because of that, the hiding
mechanism failed along with it. Fixed on 3 levels: (1) the gradient background is now its own
separate CSS rule, so a minifier issue there can only cost the gradient (falls back to a plain
solid color), never the positioning; (2) removed reliance on external CSS alone for the
critical hide/show state – it’s now also set and toggled directly via inline styles in
JavaScript, which can’t be affected by any external stylesheet failing to load or parse at
all; (3) confirmed the toggle button remains a real element, so Space/Enter already
open it via native keyboard behavior with no extra code needed.

1.4.2

Added 5 new Accessibility Profiles (Visual Impairment, Color Blindness, Dyslexia, Learning
Disabilities, Seniors) – 9 total now, up from 4. Loosely inspired by comparing against a
competitor’s widget offering, adapted to what this widget’s existing tools can actually
support well.
Added 2 new color filters: Low Saturation and High Saturation (alongside the existing
Grayscale and Sepia). Epilepsy Safe profile now also applies Low Saturation.
Split the single “Stop Media” toggle into 3 independent ones – Stop Video/Audio, Freeze GIFs,
and Stop Embedded Video (YouTube/Vimeo) – so, for example, someone can stop autoplaying video
without also freezing every GIF on the page. Same underlying behavior as before, just
separately controllable.
Added 5 new tools: Underline Links (WCAG 1.4.1), Bold Text, Limit Text Width (WCAG 1.4.8),
Large Click Targets (WCAG 2.5.5, ~44x44px minimum), and a Heading Navigation menu (floating
list of every heading on the page to jump straight to a section).
Now automatically respects the operating system’s own “reduce motion” accessibility setting
by default (not shown as a separate tool, since there’s no button for it) – if someone has
already told their OS they want less motion and never explicitly touched this widget’s own
Stop Animations toggle, it’s turned on for them automatically rather than making them
discover and click yet another switch. Never overrides an explicit choice made on this widget.
Tool count: 34 now, up from 25 in 1.4.0.

The virtual keyboard now closes with Esc (not just by reopening the bar and toggling it off
again), and has its own visible ✕ close button directly on the keyboard itself.
“Reset All” moved from the bottom of the bar’s action row to the header, so it’s always
visible the instant the bar opens – no scrolling through tools needed to find it.

dialog now has aria-modal=”true” in addition to role=”dialog”.
Fixed: “Reset All” only cleared the (rarely used) floating-panel button states, not the actual
bar widget’s – buttons stayed visually “stuck active” after a reset. Now resets both correctly.
