We made ELM because we wanted a simple way to add membership features to our eLearning LMS site we run without having to install and setup a big complicated membership plugin.

  1. Install either via the plugin directory, or by uploading the files to your server.
  2. Activate the plugin through the β€˜Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  3. Go to the Memberships->Settings menu in your WordPress Administration area and edit your protection message as you see fit.
  4. In your Edit Page or Post screen, look for the Ristretto ELM box below the editor and select the ELM membership levels you’d like to use to protect this page or post. Doing so will ensure that only members of those levels will be able to see this content (with the exception of site administrators)

How do I protect partial content on a page/post?

Use the following shortcode: [elm_restrict userlevel=levelname]Your partial content to protect[/elm_restrict]

How do I embed the member registration form?

Use the following shortcode: [elm_register_form]
Note that this feature doesn’t currently accept payments, it’s for free member registrations only.

We have a team intranet site that we use internally and didn’t want to spend money and time with setting up some overly complicated membership plugin. This plugin is about as easy as they come when it comes to making a membership site. I’ve used a bunch of the big name membership plugins for WordPress, and I have to say that this was the easiest to set and get started with. It’s perfect for our simple company needs! The only thing it’s missing is PayPal integration so that we can take signups on the frontend of our websites if we decide to use this for some of our other membership projects. Right now it seems to only have a shortcode for putting a simple registration form on the frontend but for free memberships only. Hoping they’ll build something for taking payments soon!
